New SOLAR chapter in North MS Jan. 21st, 2009 @ 04:24 pm
Hello fellow LARPers in MS:
My boyfriend and I are in the works of trying to start a new SOLAR chapter in North MS. For those of you unfamiliar with SOLAR, its a live action fantasy roleplaying game (LARP) that takes place in two locations already in Atlanta area and Southern MS. We are hoping to start a chapter here in Northern MS to attract Memphis, Starkville, Jackson and surrounding area gamers at Wall Doxey State park, just north of Oxford, MS. This site is ideal for LARPing and has expressed interest in hosting the event.
At this stage we are looking to figure out how many people would be interested in taking part, and if we get a good bit of interest, we can then see about booking the State Park for an event and setting up the staff. So if you are interested in bring SOLAR to north MS, or if you live in the surrounding area and have wanted the chance to LARP (its great exercise for gamers!) please leave us a comment here or email me at gamergeekgoddess@gmail.com

I attack the darkness! Jul. 1st, 2008 @ 02:44 pm
The website I work for just released this subtitler game, so I thought I'd share my geekness with the world. This is only one of the ones I've made... this thing is like crack.

X-posted to hell and back.

New to Hattiesburg Jun. 22nd, 2008 @ 09:46 pm
Hello. I am new to the Hattiesburg area, and I am looking to join a gaming group. I'll try any system/setting, however, I mainly play D&D 3.5.

Looking for something on Friday night and/or possibly during the week.

DnD Group in Jackson Aug. 16th, 2007 @ 01:51 pm
I would like to start a Forgotten Realms 3.5ed campaign in the Jackson area.  Sessions would be 2+ a month most likely on Sundays but i can be convinced to go weekends.  I would like to start the game at lvl 1 and build up logically and slowly from there.  If you have any interest or would like to discuss any ideas please contact me.

I have been interested in getting involved with a vampire RPG for some time here on the gulf coast. Does anyone have any information on one? I've never played but want to learn and get involved.

Lemme know....please

Anyone alive? Jul. 13th, 2007 @ 05:39 pm

I have just moved to the Jackson area and am looking for a group to start playing with.  I prefer DnD and would not mind DMing again just to get something off the ground.  Anyone have any openings in their groups for an experienced and mature player?

D&D-- Need More Players Dec. 22nd, 2006 @ 11:10 am
Okay, people playing in my campaign.

Three of the characters have --somehow-- survived to level 4.

We have the first part of the party:
A male human CG/CN 4Favored Soul
A male human CG/CN 4Warlock
A male Sun Elf NE/CE 2Beguiler/2 Sun Elf Paragon

They managed to live through:
Taking a job from the Harpers to bodyguard a aristocrat (female human 1Aristocrat) from a Chosen of Tymora (female half-elf CG 2Aristocrat/9Rogue/10Thief-Acrobat/3Harper Scout; ECL 30) and her (male human NG 12Fighter/3Rogue/3Harper Scout; ECL 18) rather thuggish looking buddy.
Taking a job from the Cyricists to kidnap and hold the same aristocrat for two weeks.
Hanging out with a male drow 10Sorceror/6Cleric of Vhaeruan (ECL 18). He's only, oh, gee, 58 years old, making him a mere 12 or 13 by human standard. But sure, let's listen to the kid.
Teleporting from Selgaunt to Skullport because the kid (Jar'rel) got BORED.
Selling the aristocrat into slavery to the mindflayers.
Tracking her to the mindflayer camp.
Jar'rel summoning a Herzhou... without a summoning/binding circle. Just reading from a scroll.
Jar'rel toddling off with the giant toad-demon down the streets of Skullport to go get the girl.
The Sun Elf walking into a drow-only bar.
The Sun Elf finding a Chosen of Vhaeraun (female drow CE 8Rogue/9Shadowdancer/3Cleric of Vhaeruan Chosen; ECL 27) and getting her to help.
Mindflayer vs. lots of demons (did we mention Herzhou can SUMMON MORE?)
The Chosen and company retrieving the girl and grounding the drow kid.
Teleporting BACK to Selgaunt.
Taking the girl to be sacrificed by the Cyricists.
A power struggle between the two high priests involving multiple elemental weirds.
About 20 guards and that many random Cyric worshippers.
Getting the hell out of dodge. First boat out of town, leaving money for the rest of the party when they show up.

And that's how level one characters hit level four.

And got to the magnificent town of Baldur's Gate, which is where the three of them currently are.

I am still looking for a couple more people for the campaign. I have a couple other people who I will be "getting up to speed", and then the two groups will "meet back up" shortly, so if you're looking for campaing to jump into, now is good!

If you're interested in playing, here's what you need to know:

1) Forgotten Realms campaign setting.
2) Your character DOES know all the others already. You've all met outside of the city of Selgaunt in the country of Sembia and formed "The Company of the Fox", a small adventuring party bent on coin and... er... more coin. You may not be best friends, but you're all at least friendly towards each other.
3) Level one. Seriously. Standard races. Any race from the Player's Handbook, Forgotten Realms campaign setting, or Races of Faerun that does not require a level adjustment is acceptable.
4) I have a starting package for you. Don't worry about gear.
5) This is not a hack-and-slash campaign. You'll get into a lot more trouble than you can get out of with swords and sorcery alone-- you might want to put a few ranks in Diplomacy. Or at least have Expeditious Retreat cast on yourself. (There will be plenty of dungeons. Trust me. It's just not the sole thing the campaign is based around.)
6) Hopefully this will be a long-term campaign. We'll be playing weekly through the middle of January, then every other week after that.
7) I'm a fair GM. This means sometimes I ignore the rules, and sometimes I enforce them firmly. I do not allow the following at my table: Munchkins (Ooh, I'm going to play a halfling/halfelf rogue/barbarian so I can get these extra feats and blah blah blah break my character!); Kender (blasted little klepto halflings. This is why I rarely run Dragonlance!); Attack of the Clonies (Well, my Chaotic Good Dark Elf Ranger is going to have TWO Scimitars and a panther for an animal companion! And he's angsty!); or Rules Lawyers (Well, according to Dungeon Master's Guide 5 and a half, page 13 CLEARLY states that someone simply CANNOT use Expeditious Retreat when being chased by Beholders). We're here to game, and gaming generally means having fun.
8) Bribing the GM with: dark chocolate, Sonic cheesesticks with Ranch dressing, cheetoes, Mountain Dew (Code Red), Cherry Coke, BAWLS, Oreo cookies, Ben and Jerry's Phish Food, or Hawaiian Rolls-- acceptable. If the GM's mouth is full, she can't kill you. ^_^
9) Roll stats: 3d6, reroll ones once. Roll 8 times, drop lowest stat. Seventh mystery stat is "Luck". Once per gaming session, you can augment a roll with 1d4+Luck modifier. If I'm speaking greek to you, then feel free to game anyway. This table is newbie friendly.
10) If you don't have books, I have a bookshelf full. You can borrow if you need to. If you bring your books, make sure your name is in them.

Email me at drowgirl at gmail dot com and let me know you want to play!

MAGE game Nov. 11th, 2005 @ 07:34 am
There will be a soft-run game tonight starting at 6pm and going on to ????. The meeting place is at the Union on MSU campus. You'll need to ask around for the ST or the ADST. The easiest place to meet and ask questions is the Food Court or on the steps of the Union that face out into the drill field/ quad. There is a reason we're known as "step-monkeys".

Hope to see you!

P.S. If you can't make it Friday - I think that there's another soft-run on Sunday.

Hi! Aug. 18th, 2005 @ 10:52 am
I'm not sure how many of us are planning on playing D&D Online when it comes out, but I thought that I would see who was and also who was interesting on playing on the same server. I've got a bunch of friends in Jackson that will be playing, but it's always nice to group with people that are a bit more local.

online game starting Aug. 9th, 2005 @ 08:23 pm
System: World of Darkness – White Wolf Games: Vampire, Werewolf, Mage, etc. First ed (but with second ed. Merits and flaws allowed)

Start Date: August 20, 2005

Delivery system: Newsgroup - http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/HattiesburgRPGOnlineGames/

General info: The game is currently inner city, and is mostly designed for Vampire, but can easily accept mages willing to risk their necks and a few hardy Bone Gnawers or other city Savvy Werewolves... The city is not based on any specific real location, so a small amount of flexibility is possible for havens, etc. There is a “Central Park” area that the vampire Prince just can’t seem to get out of the hands of a group of PittBulls that just won’t leave. They usually stay in the park, so it isn’t a high priority, at least not at the moment.

Any questions can be directed to BearDrummer@GMail.com  or discussed on the above website.

Hattiesburg group to start online game May. 22nd, 2005 @ 12:48 pm
I moderate a Yahoo group for gamers in the Hattiesburg area... and we are about to start a new game...

D&D 3.0 or 3.5, 10th level, 49,000 gold - magic items expected - create using theh cost guide in the DMG. It is a play-test for part of a universe one of our members is getting ready for publication. If you wish to play, or if you want another area to discuss gaming in and around Hattiesburg, feel free to come on in....

Quoted from Mississippi ELECTION BALLOT:

This proposed constitutional amendment provides that marriage may take place and may be valid under the laws of this state only between a man and a woman. The amendment also provides that a marriage in another state or foreign jurisdiction between persons of the same gender may not be recognized in this state and is void and unenforceable under the laws of this state.

* Yes
* No

Please do make sure you vote in ALL sections of your ballot. Not only do the MS ballots include the Presidential election, but you are also voting for House of Representatives in some districts, possibly some officials in your county, and maybe in some other government or judicial areas pertaining to your county or state.

((sorry that this is off-topic but I hope you all don't mind too much. Election coming up is very important, and I think people should be aware of everything it involves.))

Hello all. My name is Chris and I live in Olive Branch, Mississippi (extreme North Mississippi -- about ten minutes from Memphis).

I have played AD&D, Star Wars (d6), Deadlands, and TORG (I've got lots of books for this one).

If anyone is interested in a new member to their group, I would be interested in all paper and pen games. I'm looking for something more campaign style instead of the hack and slash.

Let me know, and I look forward to hearing from you (and being part of this group!).

More about me here.
» White Wolf LARP's
Starkville, MS has had a chapter of the officially sanctioned White Wolf Camarilla larp's since Febuary of last year. We currently run Vampire: TM Camarilla/Anarch, Sabbat, and Garou. Some talk has been given to starting up a Changeling venue as well. You're welcome to visit!

» White wig for sale
For Sale:

One unused, still in package white shoulder-length wig.

This would be good for anyone LARPing a drow/drae/dark elf (pick a term). Or if you have any other character with white hair, I don't care what you use it for...

It is unopened. I got two back in December, and forgot about the extra one (turns out I didn't need it) until just this week. Tried to take it back to the store but they have a 30-day return policy... -_-; Was very annoying.

I paid $17.99 for it. It's really nice, just have no use for it, considering my mid-length wig works fine.

Make me an offer. email me at erika_hayasaka@hotmail.com, IM me at Sango no Taiji on AIM. If you want it and your offer is reasonable, sold. I'll mail it to you or meet you somewhere or whatever.

I add new products every few days, when I have time. Feel free to check it out. If you have any suggestions, AIM me (in my userinfo) or email me (sangochan@ livejournal.com (no space))

I'm also working on a website called Gamer's Haven, which should be up soon. The store kinda goes with the site, but the site is still in production. I'd rather not put up something half-assed... would like to have it completely, or at least mostly, ready for public consumption before opening it.

Not much else. Have a smashing day.

» George Orwell's 1984
I want to start an RPG that is set in London, Oceania in George Orwell's novel, "1984"

People would have the option of being Outer-Party Members or Proles. You can choose your job, or make-up a new job to be approved for your character. Thought Police, Ministry of Truth employees, Newspeak specialists, etc. Only Admins, Mods, and Storytellers can be Inner-Party Members, though. Characters can be for the Party or against it, too.

There really are no limits that aren't set by the book or voted on by Inner-Party members to keep the plot going.

Is there anyone here that would join an online, journal & chat-based RP set in George Orwell's "1984"?

» Well
I found these recently, or was sent them.

Their pictures from a few years ago now, I think this was spring of... shit... uhhh... 2001. I don't do quite as much larping as I did in the day, a lot more straight D&D, generally got tired of the negative aspects of it.

These pictures remind me of some of the good though.

I am, of course, the one that looks like my lj user icon.

» hello
Hi, my name is Jane.
Some of you probably know me.. coast con, phoenix, brief appearances at solar.
Today I'm selling you a LARP called Dreamscape.
This is stolen from the website, but personally I doubt I could give a better description of this larp...

"Dreamscape is a fantasy LARP devoted to bringing to life a comprehensive story written by the players themselves. A dedicated plot staff sets the scene with a fully developed world, memorable NPC's, and plenty of introductions to adventure. Plot fully integrates character histories into the history of the game so that characters can live out their own stories in the setting provided. "

Dreamscape is friendly and helpful to all new players. The storyline is different and much more original than any of the other larps that are out there. This is a larp where even the lowest of the low characters can change the world. No more having to be level 20+ to even get noticed!

I'd highly recommend Dreamscape to anyone. Specially if you are a bit disappointed in the things at Phoenix or Solar, I've played them both and know how frustrating it can get. Or if you are just a person who values roleplaying over powergaming.

Dreamscape might be for you! Please check the website for more information..

The next event is Feb 6-8 at Fountainebleau state park group camp 3. Please stop by!

K that’s all, have a nice day everyone!!
